Have you ever wanted to have one of your recipes illustrated like here at Kitchen Scraps?
Submit a recipe and clever story by midnight Friday, November 20 and I’ll choose the top three submissions (maybe more depending on how good the submissions are) and do an illustration for your blog!
A few hints, tips and suggestions.
1. Think of something beyond the ordinary, we are in the realm of creative thought, so don’t feel like you need to adhere to the rules of reality.
2. Think of amazing food legends, crazy food disaster stories or do a little research and come up with something wild and far-fetched.
3. Connect the dots. It can be harder than you think to come up with a recipe that ties in well with a creative story, so do lots of brainstorming and really make sure your idea is bulletproof.
4. Get inspired. I love to look at cookbooks for ideas, but that’s not the only place creative cooking spawns from. Try looking around the rest of your bookshelf at art, history and science books for left-field ideas.
5. Have fun, try not to take it all too seriously. Afterall, the best laughs and recipe ideas are from deep down in your tummy.
It will take a week to complete the illustrations that the winners will post on their sites with a link back to Kitchen Scraps. Kitchen Scraps will post the images with a link to their respective sites for the recipes and stories. You’ll be able to post your cool illustrated post by Friday December 4!Email your submissions to
