When Candace told me we were going to Janice Beaton Fine Cheese for an after hours tour, I was pretty sure there must be a golden ticket involved.
A behind the scenes sampling of the most amazing cheese case full of wonder and merriment sounded like something straight out of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory.
People arrived in pairs conjuring images of everyone succumbing to various fates along the way. Would Colin be trampled by singing sheep? Would Mike be sucked up an automatic milking machine? Would I be the victim of a cheese teleportation device? The excitement was buliding even before the cheeses arrived.
And then the cheese showed up and just kept on coming. Like a procession of umpa lumpas with their own magical little ditty to share.
With bread and wine pairings, my palate flew to new heights in a world of pure imagination as we flew through mountains and fields of grazing cows, goats and sheep.
If you want a tour of the case, you don’t need to find a golden ticket in a chevre. You simply need to email Krystal (crystal@jbfinecheese.com) at Janice Beaton Fine Cheeses to make arrangements.
Here is a lovely sampling of photos from the night of cheese festivities…
